Saving money at warehousewholesale clubs like Costco or Sam's Club is another way shoppers can stretch grocery budgets. Howincrements ever, just because you can buy products in doesn't mean you're always getting the best deal. And don't forget to add on that yearly membership fee. Memberships at one of these clubs can range from $50 to $100. While many items are a good buy and definitely high quality, saving money at these clubs requires some skill in knowing what really is worth the money. I heard many shoppers proclaim that they can't get out of these stores without spending at least $200 or more, so my first suggestion is to take a shopping list. Going to the store without a shopping list is akin to going to the store hungry: You always buy more than you needed or intended. I've It's all too easy to be awed by the enormous wall of . items prominently displayed as you enter this concrete jungle-There is a reason why candy is next to the register and end caps. Just remember: That bottle of 1,000 Tylenol or the jumbo 2 pack of Neosporin do have expiration dates, so make sure your mega medicine purchase can be used before the product expires. --J- ffSj Electronics: While I'm far from an electronics guru, my own personal searches for prices on HDTVs, iPods, SD cards and even ink cartridges and other electronic fare have readily found prices at their lowest in warehouse clubs. That's doesn't mean you can't find lower prices available with the help of the Internet or holiday door busters, but spending hours of hunting likely won't save you too much overall. There is something to be said for the conve- How to use "unusable" space By ' nience of overall Aimee Niculescu believe that organizing should be more of a process of simplify- ing than anything else. Anybody can organize a room or a closet, just to have it "unorganized" a week or two later. Simplifying means you are getting rid of stuff you don't need, and structuring what's left in a way that works for you and your home! There is a big difference! For some people, simplifying requires bringing in outside resources that can see your stuff and your space differently than you do. I definitely recommend that if you have a tendency to keep clutter around, and you have a hard time throwing things away. If that is your personality, than it will be almost impossible to simplify oh your own. Simplifying is not only about your stuff, but about your space, and how to use it effectively. am all about using the space in your home that most people wouldn't think to use. Walls, doors, and ceilings are a great example of that. We have talked before about using hanging shoe organizers on the back of your doors in your home. I have one hanging on every door in my home, and it's used for many different purposes. Shoes, hats, gloves, scarves, toys, snacks, business supplies, cleaning stuff, jewelry, belts, coloring and art stuff, etc. If you think about all the doors in your home, and how much you could store on each door, it is almost an entire room worth of stuff. So if you are in need of more space, but buying a bigger home is out of the question, than this is a great idea for you! Another great idea is using wall and ceiling space. Hooks are a great way to utilize those spaces. They are very inexpensive, you can buy all kinds of different sizes and designs, and you can store so many things on hooks. Coats, jackets, scarves, belts, toy bags, stuffed animal bags, backpacks, shoe bags, clothes, yard supplies, tools, etc. If you have small kids around the house, putting hooks higher up is a great way to store things in your home that need to be out of reach. you can do quickly to get more control in your life, and you only focus on the big things that can take weeks or months to get control of. One good idea is to set aside just a couple hours a week to focus on simplifying your home. You will be amazed at how many positive changes can happen in just one month.
