Mike Ovard, of 970 W. 400 N., has been romping around on stats far a couple of years and enjoys the view from his somewhat unstable perch. M&e made himself a pair of tall stilts while his grandfather made a somewhat shorter pair that are strapped to his legs and allow him to run at a pretty good speed. Getting up on the taiier stilts presents a four-fetall so problem when you're only Mike backs up to a tree in the front yard and sort of steps up on the foot hold with his back against the tree. Getting down is somewhat easier, though not without hazzard. Mike simply falls foreword, hoping he'll be able to stop the fall How Can You Get to as. f I et Feel Ten Feet Tall? 1 1 J gently. One other buzzard he runs into, literally, on occasions is his dog "Siad." Shad is like ail enthusiastic pets and hkes to jump up to his master. On stilts this can present problems and Mike has come thundering down because of Shad when he didn't exactly plan to. This hasn't seemed to dampen Mike's enthusiasm and in fact he tries to teach friends and relatives how to walk on stilts, often with humorous results. This may not be the ideal method of gaining in height but it sure keeps you on a few your toes, if you can even manage to get on the wobbly things. On Stilts, Of Course. v nr i v.
