Show Indiana Squares Series With looms large as the Stars and Indiana take their knotted ABA Western Division playoff series to Salt Lake City Monday night for the decisive tilt. The home court factor must be considered in the see-saseries. Indiana won its three home games and Utah has an winning streak going on its floor. The winner of the series carries the Western Division banner into the tilts championship By GARY KALE LTI Sports Writer It's been home sweet home in the division finals of the American Basketball Association playoffs. Both series are tied because of the teams' ability to win at home. The Indiana Pacers tied the Western Division playoffs at 3 9 with a victory over the Utah Stars Wednesday night. WJ In Track The Orem Tigers made a runaway of a triangular track meet yesterday at the Orem field as the Tigers more than doubled the combined score of Provo and Lehi. The Tigers compiled 108 points to swamp Provo with 43 points and Lehi scored just six and a half points. Orem won every event except the high jump where Provo's Terry Casper leaped 2 for Provo's only first place the entire day. 6-- The track season is rapidly reaching a culmination point as major meets are now scheduled each week for the remainder of the season. This weekend the prep tracksters will be competing in the BYU Invitational. Next week the division meets will be held, and the following week the Region Four meet will be held at BYU. Then comes the State Championships in Salt Lake City the next week. The results: Invitation Meet. I can't help it. In this one I'm telling you right off I won't be completely neutral. I'm rooting. To make it worse, you could even say I'm rooting against the "home" team, the New York Knicks. But I'm not really pulling against them or for the Los Angeles Lakers. The guy I'm rooting for is Jerry West. When this NBA thing is all over, it would do my heart good to see him smiling and glowing there on the winning side. I think it would do a lot of other hearts good also. One scene involving Jerry West keeps coming back to me all the time. It was a scene in the Lakers' dressing room two years ago right after the Knicks had won the title in seven games. Jerry West did everything humanly possible in that final playoff series with the Knicks, including sinking one shot from Jerry competing for the title along with two BYU teams, making a field of eight teams.
