Show Maturation Education Meetings Slated in Nebo School District - Parent SPANISH FORK meetings are being in the three major communities of tne Nebo School District to hear the report of the Maturation Education committee which his been reviewing materials used for sex education in the district. The ad hoc committee has spent several months evaluating films, books, and other materials used in the district for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The evaluation has been compiled in an extensive report which will be presented to the parents. Springville Meeting a meeting will be held Wednesday, May 13 at 8 pjn. in the Springville High School auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend In Spanish Fork, the meeting has been scheduled for May 20 at 8 pjn. in the Spanish Fork F jh School auditorium. The Payson meeting date has not been confirmed at press time. ' Committee Members Making up the committee In Springville, from Springville have been Ernest A Strong Jr., David McDaniel, Richard Drollinger, and Ray Waiting. From the Danish Fork area, there are J. Austin Cope Jr., Mrs. Lynn Mrs. Lucille Christensen, Bartholomew, and Mrs. Vernon Carlson; while the Payson area has included Claude Rowley, Mrs. Sherol Wilson, Mrs. Jerelyn Garner, and Mrs. Joel Johnson. Others included Dr. J. Robert Hogan, Boyd Goodrich, district staff member and committee chairman; Mrs. Gene Cotter, Mrs. Leona Curtis, Gus Black, and representatives of the press. The completedreport includes detailed evaluations of each film or book used by the district, with for their recommendations continuation or discontinuation. The report states, "While we believe the primary responsibility for the 'sex' education aspect of life education resides in the home, our schools, along with our churches, inevitably must play a role in supporting and supplementing the home's Therefore, the responsibility. committee, feeling satisfied that materials available in the Nebo School District, makes its recom- mendations: "1. American history beginning with the puritan and pilgrim fathers and ending with our moon astronauts was presented in verse, song and dance. The students dressed in authentic costumes of the era told about our American heritage, acting out the lives of these great patriots, singing songs and dancing dances that these people did in their day. Mrs. Allred greatly reinforces what her students have learned during the year as well as giving mem an opportunity to express themselves by participation, but most of all the program gives its participants and audience a love and feeling of patriotism for this great land of America in which we live.
