After hanging fifteen minutes the body was examined by the physi cians and life declared extinct. Several erroneous' statements having appeared in the daily papers recently, regarding the consolidation of all the opposition companies with the Western Union Telegraph lines, the following information on the subject has been obtained from official sources, and is given upon reliable authority: The stockholders of the A. and I. Telegraph lines, which extend from New York to San Francisco, many of whom are also directors of tho U. P; have bought the 6tock of the Franklin Co. lines, which extend from New York to Washington, and within a few days the actual control of these lines will have passed into the bands of the Atlantic and Pacific line people, who have now direct connections to all parts of the country. ' The former executive manager of the A. and l lines, E. D. L'. Sweet, is now presiding manager of all these lines. The lines of the consolidated compiny connect with those of the. Southern and Atlantic Co. at Washington, which has been extended to Montgomery, Ala., and nre being rapidly pushed toward New Orleans. The company have also the capital subscribed to pay for building he lines from Washington to Cincinnati, and westward. ' It is expected the Atlanlio and Paeifi Co. will put np' another oppos tion ' line, whose wires extend from New York to Pittsburg and Louisville, thence to New Orleans, and will at once come into consolidation, thus affording connection with all important poiuts in the south and west, in opposition to the Westorn Uaion Company, under one management. .piniou, j TK.-rTBIP- i - .....
