FRANKLIN Editor. D. RICHARDS, C. W. PENROSE, Associate Epitob. OGDI1Y, UTAH. Wednesday Morning', Xor. 23, 1870. Farewell! The Salt Lake Herald of yesterday gives an account of the arrest of Messrs C. R. Savage, A. Curt, W. G. Philips, J. Fennlmore and C. Livingston, by the U. S. Marshal and some of his deputies, on Monday last. It appears that a few boys have been practising as a inartful band for the 3d Regiment of Militia, and have recently received new instruments A portion of the regiment concluded to welcome the new band, and paraded for that purpose on the 20th Ward Square. The above-namegentlemen were arrested for this heinous crime, brought before Judge Hawlcy, charged with "rebellion and insurrection." They were held under bonds of $2,000 each for examination. Butler, the hero of Orleans and Kuight of the Spoons, attempt to gal vanize the old party into new life and give it fresh influence in the nation, by naking issue with England on the Ala bama claims. He proposes that an ambassador shall he sent to England with imperative instructions, and au thorized to offer to England that she permit the Cunadian provinces to vote for or against annexation to the United States, such provinces as wish to enter the Union to be accepted in liquidation of the Alabama claims and by this means the vexed question of tho fisheries will be amicably adjusted.
