Terri Gunnarson Terri Gunnarson, 17, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lynn Gunnarson, Sandy, has been selected to a finalist in the 1978 Utah United Teenager Pageant to be held at the Four Seasons Motor Inn, June 17. The pageant is the finals for official state-wid- e the pageant to be held in Washington, D.C. in December. Contestants from all over the state will be competing for the title. All contestants are between the ages of 14 and 18 and must have a "B" or better school grade average. They are requested to participate in the Volu- Community Service Program of the United Teenager Pageant. Through this program many youngsters are becoming involved in community activities by contributing a nteer minimum of 8 hours time to a civic or volunteer service. Bojce receives Book wins Violet Boyce bronze pin Utah Press Women award Violet G. Boyce, Sandy, freelance writer and retired reporter for the Midvale Sentinel, won a first place award for her entry in the Utah Press Women state contest. Mrs Boyce won her award on the entry of her recent book, "Upstairs To a Mine," a book about her early life in Bingham and Midvale. Coauthor is Mabel Harmer. Mrs Boyce has won numerous awards for her writing and poetry on a Gwen Atwood, a member of Sandy Unit 77 of the American Legion Auxiliary, received a bronze pin Sunday which signified 1,750 hours of service working at the Ft. Douglas Veterans Hospital as a volunteer. Mrs Atwood was presented her award at a ceremony held at the hospital April 23. The hospital officials had a tea for all of the volunteers and guests.
