Show SOAR'deals with hunt State Reflections Contest names nine local winners first place in music in A Midvale girl has won Bicentennial first place in two state contests sponsored by the PTA. EvAnn Dahl, daughter of Mr and Mrs Everett Dahl, was declared first place winner in the Reflections competition sponsored jointly by the State Board of Education, the PTA, and Deseret News. She was awarded certificates of merit at both regional and state levels, a savings bond, and an engraved plaque. Her original musical composition is now being judged at the national level. DelMar Gaunt, a senior at Bingham High School, was also a first place winner in the Bicentennial contest. According to Mrs Laurel state PTA officer, this marks the seventh year that the National PTA has sponsored the cultural arts Annual Legion poppy sales on Saturday children, friends, members of the scouts, and others will be helping in the annual event. A luncheon will be served to the helpers following their door to door campaign. SANDY Election of officers will take place on Thursday, May 20, at the American Legion Auxiliary meeting, according to Mrs Gwen Atwood, president of Sandy Unit 77. Members will meet at the Legion post home at 293 S. 200 E., Sandy, at 8 p.m. Also on the agenda will be preparations for the annual poppy sales to be conducted in Sandy from door to door, under the direction of Mrs Ellen Setterberg. The date set for the sales is Saturday, May 22 at 9 a.m. Member's Also on Saturday, May 22, the Auxiliary will conduct a rummage sale at the Legion hall, beginning at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Many items will be on sale at fantastically low prices.
