Out My Window A reader, who wishes to remain anonymous, sent In toe following letter in response to my editorial concerning drivers who want 'to get going' on the streets and roads, and, as a result, bonk fteir horns and give obscene gestures to anyone who is driving at the posted speed limit. And, slowly, when the cancerous results of fallout began to be known, the government . . ; OUR government . . . turned its back on the people and fought to the bitter end to be free of any responsibility for those acts. i : j There have been many times when the government of "We the People" should have hung its head in shame. The first was when 'our' government treated the Thirteen colonies so badly they finally said "No". That English government which did those deeds was OUR government, and the people waited long years before rebelling against leadership they had long been loyal to. The Civil War brought events that left a shameful scar across our southern states to this very day. It was a shameful day when we refused to Join the League of Nations and thus we, the most freedom loving nation on earth, was responsible for that organization's stillbirth. Time has made us bow our heads in shame over our voting that long ago day. We were wiser a generation later and, though there will always be nervous hints that Pearl Harbor was both anticipated and expected, almost to a three-da- y 'window', we had learned from the League which we aborted, and have since been the strongest supporter followed WW II. of the United Nations which The shame of Vietnam that Johnson spread over our nation will forever be a bar sinister across our national escutcheon, but... .uo iS. It could certainly be self supporting by using stiffer penalties to pay 'for - Those sad, misplaced people will never be able to 'go home again' and our government does not care that it lied to them. They hatefully state, that it was another set of leaders who made those Michael J. Crane promises, not them. Hundreds of people here in Utah . . . . not counting the thousands of animals . . . became ill, suffered md most of them are already dead from what our own government did to them. That government "officially" mourns and publicizes its sorrow over what happened over Hiroshima, but deny any responsibility of what, they did over our southern state. But the government knew, and knows but they do not care. And Monday, January llth, 1988, the shame was placed precisely in the hands of those nine Judges who sit on our Supreme Court. In the parlance of today, they said, 'Tough Luck" and thafsthat. I love my country and am glad to be here, but as people of other generations have bowed their heads in shame over actions of the leadership of their day, so today, every citizen feels shame. And fear. . yes, but. On Monday, 11, 1988 our government laid shame over a tragedy of almost 30 years duration. And its pain is farfrom over. For now we know that, no matter what any President says about caring for the people, the Government does NOT care. They He. The government does what it choses and we are helpless before them. It was in the late 1950's and 60's (hat our government had open testing of Atomic Bombs in the sands of Nevada, and New, Mexico, and pubttcized the even, itrgtngW&tks, and adults to be witness to such history making events, even stating the hour and direction of where to watch. Every Congressman, every Senator, President Reagan and the Supreme Court must know that the world fill long remember the shame of what their actions o?M$dry, To everyone we hare sent to Washington to be in charge of our welfare, shame, shame, shame. ... . Also down and dirty enforcement with unmarked cars and the cops in jeeps and pickups. They are all angels when they see the light bars and the white cars. So why don't you poll your readers and see if there isn't a big enough voice out there that favors severe law enforcement of traffic laws and would back a candidate who would give it to them. - A Reader His farewell meeting will be held in the Taylorsville 35th ward, 4505 South 3420 West, at 11:00 am. on January 17th. , The future missionary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L.
