The last few days of school in 1985 at Alta high will be busy ones. Today (Thursday) the Hawk wrestlers will travel to Mountain View for meets at 5 : 30 and 7 : 30 p.m. They will then host the Alta Invitational Wrestling meet beginning tomorrow at 4 p.m. It will continue Saturday. According to assistant principal Doug Anderson, it is an allcomers meet. Wrestlers from various schools are invited. But they will compete on an individual basis rather than as a team. "It is something new here, and should be interesting," he says. The girls basketball team will begin playing in a Provo tournament at 6 p.m. They will face Grand Junction and will play again on Saturday. The Hawks will face Weber Friday with sophomore and JV games at 5:30 p.m. in two different gyms at Weber. Varsity players will start at 7:30p.m. On Saturday, Alta will host the debate portion of the Copper Classic. Mr. Anderson explains that it is a Jordan invita- district-sponsore- d tional. Other portions will be held in additional schools. During the event, which is sponsored by the Utah Wool Growers Assn., students from Salt Lake, Murray, Granite and Jordan districts entered outfits in adult, senior and junior categories and prepared to model their outfits for judges in competition held in the morning. The girls had to leave their outfits with judges during the rest of day to allow judges time to look over the clothes and judge sewing closely. Clothes entered in the contest must be 70 percent wool. That evening during the fashion show winners were announced. According to Christine Lee, chairman, and Eunice Pixton, Hillcrest adviser, Kristine Leavitt of Hillcrest was named winner in the senior division. She will go on to state competition. Jenny Benson of Hillcrest was a runner up. For their efforts both girls won a piece of wool fabric. will Spanish Folk Dancing Is In Limelight In Midvale MIDVALE. Officials at Midvale elementary, in conjunction with the Utah Arts Council, are sponsoring an Artist in Residence, Salvador Reyes, to work with students all during the month of December. The Artist in Residence Program gives children an opportunity to experience various artistic forms in many different cultures. Last year the students at Midvale elementary were taught European folk dancing by another Utah artist and all this month Senor Reyes will teach the students Mexican folk dan- SANDY.
