At a meeting held this morning opinions were divided, but no decision was reached. A number of the management are of t lie opinion that the fine weather now prevailing will bring out a big crowd if the gates are opened tomorrow. The matter will be decided this afternoon. Eighteen thousand persons saw the State fair yesterday afternoon and last night. .Eighty per went of this number were from the public schools of the city, for yesterday was school children's day. All previous records for a single day's attendance were sent sailing by the enormous crowds that surged through the gates, almost overwhelming the .ate men and filling the grounds from end to end. The police had little trouble except to "hunt ifp lost children and restore them to their parents, or to keep the littls folks off the track during the automobile races. The cars to and from the grounds wcro packed to til guards last night with visitors eager to see the spectacular balloon ascension. When the great globe had reached a height of 000 feet a volley of fireworks was set off with a peculiarly dazzling effect. The balloon and parachute descended near Kighth and Ninth West streets. All the other features of the fair and the Midway drew exceptionally large crowds. More Prize-Winner-s. The judges 'completed their work in the horse department yesterday. Th? judges were William M. Springer, Thomas Irvine and Blackman. The awards were as follows: T. II. and R. H. Kmith.
