Practically it has o'osed. With an exception or iwo every position in both leagues has been decided. The pennants are won, and ail that is needed is the hollow formality of declaring them officially so. Boston will fly the American league banner, and the National league pennant will fly from the Pittsburg flagpole once more. Both pennants have been assured to the clubs, which will hold them for some time, but still there was a possibility of their Ixing lost. After the play la.t week both Pittsburg tnd Boston can lose all of the games for the remainder of the season and still they will be the victors. Hence the season of 1S03 is a thing of the past to the fans, though it still hangs onto a slender thread of life until officially dee'ared dead. With the end of the season the lute-res-t will not die out. however. The one point of attraction now is th post season series between Boston and Pittsburg. It Is a settled fact that the teams will meet, and out of the games will come a victor who will wear a crown more prized than that of either of the major leagues. So long as the .National league was sole and solitary in Its control of the snort, the national crown went with the winning of that pennant. Last season the American leagu, a strong and healthy youngster, niatle claim to a share of Rational but u thr- - war theV was nohonors, chance to nv.ing elecido the matter. With peace and the the epiestion of opportunity to settle, is no excuse for refusing thre the issue, and both Boston and PJttFburg realize this. That the battl-- between thu two will bo a memorable one then. is not i the s'.ishtest doidit. and When the Si-- iea has ended it is to be hoped that the result . , will be a decisive one. - 0 ?-- I.ARGE MALL.
