A case of epilepsy, heretofore considered an Incury able disease, is res;ondlng to In treatment nt a hospital thl city. The experimenters do not assert that the cure Is certain but say they are convinced that It Is by far the most successful treatment yet attempted. The patient, a girl of 15. has been subject to epileptic attacks, nometlmes twice a day. since she was 10 years old. At that time she had a severe attack of diphtheria. Her right arm became partly paralyzed and epilepsy socn developed. Until she began to receive the y treatment, bromides and other reme- newdies failed to relieve her. Th treatment is being used three times a week, the girl sitting with a powerful ray about two feet above and behind her head. It has just been 'earned by the officers who are searching for the murderer of Orlando P. Dexter, who was assassinated on his Adirondack estate lew days ago, that on the night previous, a house belonging to William Rockefeller, located nnar his summer cottage at Bay I'ond, and occupied by his superintendent and several of the patrolmen who guard his preserves, was fired at and struck by a bullet from a rifle. The guards formerly slept in cottages located in different parts of the park, but several of these were burned last spring by forest fires, and since that time nearly all of the guards slept In the by the superinlarge cottage tendent.
