Mrs. Hodge was very nervous during the latter part of the session and seemed greatly relieved when adjournment took place. The heat of the courtroom was somewhat mitigated today by an electric fan which kept the air in circulation. Girl Friend Again Present. Mrs. Hodge's girl friend, she with auburn hair, was at the hearing nearly all the morning and before the opening of court chatted pleasantly with her for some minutes. They laughed heartily at some witticism of the defendant, and seemed to enjoy the meeting. Every seat in the courtroom was filled at the opening of court and in a short time all the standing room was taken. There were as many women as men in attendance. The women seemed deeply interested in the defendant, and she way made the center of observation during the session. Had Custody of Wagon. Joseph Thompson, an elderly farmer from South Cottonwood, was sworn and said that the wagon, outfit and horses found at the scene of the crime weie turned over to him for safe keeping, by the Sheriff. His son turned the same over to the Sheriff in the city. The prosecution asked the defense to admit that the outfit given by young Thompson to the Sheriff was the same originally referred to. The defense declined to admit that such was the case, but said he would Viot contend that it was not. was along the His livvi of the care he had given the outfit, &,Jt'A he swore that none of the contents disturbed or changed. Sheriff Takes the Stand. Sheriff Emery was next called and swem. He said: ' On July 14th last I was called to Little Cottonwood bridge, where the body of a man had been found. I made an examination of the camp articles found there, i hey are now in my possession at the county jail. "Among these is the coat shown to Mr. Hunrahan yesterday. Tfound No Money. "f made a careful search of all the effects of the dead man, but at no time did I rind any money." The coat was then exhibited and posi tively identified. The coat was intto-duce- d in evidence, with no objection by the defense. On the Sheriff DOVER, Del.. Aug. 21.
