Show Daily' Herald Sunday,UlhSeptember Utah County, m i, Dozumentnry On Whales Slated Lydia Bruce Takes Over Role In 'The Doctors' Lydia Bruce, who has been filling in for Bethel Leslie as Dr. Maggie Powers on the television network's "The Doctors" since early summer, has assumed the role permanently. Miss Leslie left the program for a motion picture assignment in Hollywood. Miss 3ruce, a native of Detroit, received early training in ballet, but in her late teens switched her interest to acting. She attended Loyola University in Chicago, Detroit's Wayne State University, and the Goodman Memorial Theatre School in Chicago before going on the road for several seasons of ummer stock. In 1961, she starred on Broadway in "A Call on Kuprin," directed by George Abbott for which she received the nomination as "Most Promising Actress of the Season" by Howard Taubman, then drama critic of the New York Times. Miss Bruce has also performed with numerous regional theatre companies, notably the Penn State University professional in NEW YORK (UPD-Ds- ep the dark depths of the oceans, fantastic battles are going cn at this moment between scerm whales and giant squid as awesome as the clashes of the dinosaurs in the days when the world was young.
