The orchestra will come directly from the Brussels World Fair for their appearance. It will be the first time in the history of the BYU lyceum series that an orchestra from a foreign country will be made available to the students on their activity cards and community members on their membership cards. Y' On Nov. 13 Johanna Martzy, distinguished Hungarian violinist, will be featured. The first major woman violinist to be introduced on the, American concert stage in many years, Miss Martzy's fame preceded her through a series of exceptional recordings. Utah Organist Dr. Frank Asper, noted Salt Lake Tabernacle organist, will be guest artist Jan. 5. Dr. Asper has been a Tabernacle organist since 1924 and has played over 5000 recitals here. More than 1000 of these have been broadcast on the famous radio net work show, "The Salt Lake Tab ernacle Choir an Organ." Dr. Asper was guest "artist at the Philadelphia Susquecentennial in 1926, and has played on more than 16 transcontinental tours. Hailed as the, "outstanding n of his particular, generation," Leon Fleisher will display his talent Jan. 21. In 1943 he made his debut with the San Francisco Symphony and a year later he played with the New York Philharmonic - Sym' phony. Great Soprano Soprano Eileen Farrell , will be the next number in the series Jan. 26. The possessor of one of the greatest voices this country has ever produced, "Miss Farrell is also recognized by critics throughout Nthe land as a superb musician and artist. Feb. 7 Is the date scheduled for the concert by the Utah Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of, Maurice Abravanel) musical director and conductor. The Utah Symphony is always one of the most popular numbers of the series. Always playing to a pack-- , ed house, the Symphony is becoming one of the outstanding musical organizations in the country. Choir Signed The Augustana Choir of Augus-tan- a College, Rock Island, 111., will be presented in concert April ' 6. The choir is 'conducted by Henry Veld, who has been its conductor every year but one Y since its founding. Mantovani and his New Music, the famous London string orchestra, wiH be presented at BYU April 1, but the number will not be one of the regular lyceum series.
