The race will cover approximately 75 miles, mainly on single track, between the Quinn’s Junction trailhead and the Skullcandy headquarters in Kimball Junction, with an estimated elevation gain of more than 15,000 feet. The competition draws a long list of open-division riders, the top five of whom will receive a cash payout. First place will take a minimum prize of $2,000 in men’s and women’s open. The race will start at 7 a.m., with the fastest riders finishing just shy of seven hours, and the slowest finishing after 12 hours. SHEEPDOG FESTIVAL The 16th annual Soldier Hollow Classic Sheepdog Championship and Festival will return to the Heber Valley over Labor Day weekend. From Aug. 31 to Sept. 3, the festival will feature sheepdogs and handlers from around the world in herding competitions. MOBILE RECREATION TRAILER Park City Recreation is offering free activities through its mobile recreation trailer. The trailer brings equipment for games and activities like kickball, hula hooping and street hockey, and will be setting up at various spots around town in August. The 34-year old said he wished he had taken first in one of the stages, but said compared with a field stacked with talent, including Sunday’s stage winner, Cody Kelly, and Enduro World Champion Richie Rude, who raced in a previous stage, he was just happy to be anywhere near the podium. “I work a day job, you know?” he said. “This is not full time.” Boice works as a trainer to pay the bills, and says a small but dedicated group of sponsors helps make competitive racing possible for him. Not that he’s in it for the money, or glory or the thrill of competing. He’s in it for the people. On already-deep ticket, IKON offers Solitude Seven days at Brighton included in move to capture Utah skiers BEN RAMSEY The Park Record Alterra Mountain Company has announced that its IKON Pass and IKON Base passes will allow season-long access to Solitude Mountain Resort and limited access to Brighton Resort for the 2018-2019 winter. The IKON Pass will allow unlimited access to Solitude along with seven days at Brighton with no blackout dates for either. The IKON Base pass will grant access to Solitude with limited holiday restrictions, plus five days at Brigh- ton with the following blackout dates: Dec. 26-31, Jan. 19-20; Feb. 16-17. The passes also grant limited access to Deer Valley Resort, Alta Ski Area and Snowbird. IKON and IKON Base passes also allow access to more than 20 other ski destinations. Brighton and Solitude still offer a package deal for season passes to the two resorts, called the Big Cotton- wood Pass. Alternatively, Deer Valley season passes purchased before Dec. 13 will come with a complimentary IKON Base pass. The announcement comes after Alterra acquired Solitude in a transaction that closed earlier in August. On Aug. 28, Alterra announced it has also added limited access to New Mexico resort Taos.
