It is hard to imagine that there is any real estate professional out there who works harder! However, as much time as she seemed to put into our search, we never felt pressured. It was very obvious to us that she went out of her way to understand what we were looking for so that we never felt like we were wasting our time. The best thing we can say about her is that her honesty and integrity are second to none. Her client’s best interest is her singular focus. We are so pleased with our purchase...she held our hand every step of the way, and continues to be a valuable resource in our relocation.” -Zillow ANGELIQUE MCNAUGHTON The Park Record Over the last several years, Coalville City’s annual barbecue festival has evolved into an event that attracts nearly 2,000 people to the county seat for the one-day function. The event was first created nearly a decade ago to mark the 100-year anniversary of one of the city’s businesses, according to Coalville Mayor Trever Johnson. He said the mayor at the time decided to help celebrate the occasion with a community barbecue. When he was elected in 2014, Johnson, a self-proclaimed barbecue aficionado, transformed the event into a large-scale competition that draws people from across the Wasatch Front, including Salt Lake and Utah counties. ‘There were probably about 200 people that would come to the event in the beginning, but it has turned into something that brings more than 1,500 people out,” Johnson said. Coalville City will host the barbecue festival Saturday, June 17, beginning at 6 p.m. at the county fairgrounds, 202 East Park Road. The event will feature food prepared by volunteer cooks, including Johnson, live musical performances, entertainment for kids, vendors, fireworks and raffle prizes. The Utah-based country band Drive is scheduled to perform. Tickets are available for $12 for adults and $8 for children SH E I L A HA L L PHOTO COURTESY OF TREVER JOHNSON branch broker Coalville residents at the city barbecue festival in 2016. There will also be coleslaw, corn and ice cream,” Johnson said. “For the kids, there will be face painting and bouncy houses. “The most common thing I usually hear from parents is, ‘I haven’t seen my kids in forever, but I’m sure they’re having fun,” he said. Raffle prizes will include a $500 Park City weekend giveaway, a Traeger grill, barbecue cooking accessories, and cityrelated items, Johnson said. The event is sponsored through donors and businesses, including Rocky Mountain Power, Questar Gas, All West and Zions Bank. Johnson said the gate fee covers a portion of the expenses, in ad- dition to allocation from Summit County’s Restaurant Tax. He added, “The event is intended to bring people from outside of the county.” Johnson said he would ultimately like to expand the festival into a multi-day event, with activities beginning the night before. “It’s an event that we hope people will bring their friends, families and kids to and that we can continue to grow,” Johnson said. “Come up and relax our side of the valley, enjoy the beautiful scenery and some really good food.” Coalville City will host the barbecue festival on Saturday, June 17, beginning at 6 p.m. at the county fairgrounds, 202 East Park Road.
