Police Blotter Wildlife issues reported The Park City Police Department on Thursday, May 18 received reports of wildlife issues in the evening and nighttime hours, but department logs offered limited information about the cases. The reports were filed at 10:50 p.m. and 7:01 p.m. The case during the 10 p.m. hour was logged on Sidewinder Drive while the earlier one was reported on Gold Dust Lane. Public police logs did not identify the species. The Police Department, though, regularly receives reports of sighting of deer, moose and elk. The cases on May 18 may have involved a beaver, according to a department posting online. Other incidents reported to the Police Department last week included: On Sunday, May 21 at 4:23 p.m., a traffic accident was reported somewhere along S.R. 224. There were apparently no injuries. On Saturday, May 20, the Police Department received two reports of suspected thefts, one on Park Avenue and one on Empire Avenue within hours of each other in the morning. Police logs did not offer details of the cases, including the items that were reported missing and their value. A hit-and-run accident was reported on May 20, the police said, describing that a vehicle hit a Bonanza Drive barrier. It “ended up on the side of the hill” and the driver ran away, the police said in an online posting. On Friday, May 19 at 12:29 p.m., a trespassing case was reported on Snow Creek Drive. On Wednesday, May 17, parking problems were reported at or close to the intersection of Poison Creek Lane and Sidewinder Drive at 3:58 a.m. and 4:05 a.m. Police officers pulled over at least 15 drivers during an approximately three-hour stretch starting at 7:12 a.m. The traffic stops were logged on streets like Kearns Boulevard, Wyatt Earp Way and S.R. 224. Police logs did not detail the suspected violations that prompted the drivers to be pulled over. On Tuesday, May 16 at 4:20 p.m., the police received a complaint from someone along Kearns Boulevard saying a fire hydrant had been opened. There was “flooding everywhere,” the police were told. The Police Department, though, said the water was part of a waterworks operation known as a flush. During a flush, water is sent at high speeds through lines and a significant amount of water is released as a result. Someone told the police at 1:23 p.m. a license plate was stolen from the front of a vehicle while it was parked somewhere along Park Avenue. The plate disappeared several days before the police were contacted. The Police Department classified the case as a suspected theft. A dog was reportedly seen chasing cars on Holiday Ranch Loop Road at 10:16 a.m. The dog almost caused a traffic accident, the police were told. On Monday, May 15 at 1:17 p.m., a large rock was seen in the road on Kearns Boulevard. It was in a turning lane and presented a traffic hazard, the police said. Ducks and ducklings were seen in the road somewhere along Park Avenue at 10:36 a.m. |
