Public police logs did not provide details. • on Monday, Feb. 6 at 4:32 p.m., state wildlife officials contacted the police about a Moose, deer and a mountain lion seen as reports mount JAY HAMBURGER The Park Record The Park City Police Department last week continued to field reports about wildlife sightings, including a mountain lion that was seen on the edge of Park Meadows. The report involving a mountain lion followed earlier cases involving one of the animals in Park Meadows. The case last week was reported on Feb. 8. The Police Department said a mountain lion was seen in the vicinity of Meadows Drive and Mountain Top Lane, a small street toward the northern reaches of the neighborhood. It is close to a large swath of open space. The mountain lion had left by the time the police arrived. The Police Department in an online posting said the officers found tracks, however. The police also said construction crews told officers they saw the mountain lion over the course of several days. The Police Department contacted state wildlife officials to monitor the area. Public police logs, meanwhile, said the mountain lion was in a backyard. The report in the vicinity of Meadows Drive and Mountain Top Lane was logged shortly after a mountain lion was sighted in a heavily populated part of Park Meadows, along Crestline Drive close to the American Saddler Drive intersection. It was seen walking across a street, the police were told. Tracks that appeared to be those of a mountain lion were also seen. State wildlife officials relocated the moose and another one nearby to an unpopulated area in Utah County. There has been a series of wildlife sightings in Park City in recent weeks. State wildlife officials have said mountain lions followed prey animals to lower elevations around New Year’s as snowstorms pummeled the region. The prey animals moved down in search of vegetation. The Police Department has also received a series of calls about other wildlife sightings at about the time of the mountain lion reports. City Hall has requested people take food and garbage inside and keep pets inside as well. Some of the cases last week included: • on Friday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m., two moose were seen somewhere along Park Avenue. The police indicated tourists were attempting to take pictures of the animals.
