Relays, follows, repeats and remembers complex oral and written instructions, information and directions. Receives 911 emergency and non-emergency calls from the Park City area. Determines the nature and location of an emergency or event, and sets priorities to dispatch public safety personnel quickly as needed. Updates responding officers as information becomes available. May maintain contact with caller to obtain and relay information and/or provide instructions until appropriate personnel arrive on scene. May be required to provide emergency, life-saving first aid instruction based on clearly defined policies and guidelines. Screens and forwards phone calls to County division and other agencies as appropriate. Records and updates data on calls. Uses both TTY and language line services to communicate with deaf and non-English speaking public. Dispatches appropriate outside agencies to scene of the problem, and responds to the needs of those agencies by making follow-up telephone contacts as requested. Dispatches personnel to alarms as necessary. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required: • High school diploma or equivalent • Able to work rotating shifts including holidays and weekends • Possess and maintain EMD Certification within first 6 months of hire • Possess and maintain BCI Certification within first 6 months of hire • Must pass a full background check and maintain a clean criminal record • Obtain POST Certification within 18 months of hire • Ability to type accurately at 40 words per minute. • As directed by a department supervisor or authorized City Emergency Command personnel, may be required to remain at work or return to work from being off duty for work in the Police or other assigned department in the event of an emergency or disaster. Preferred: · Experience working with the State computer system · 1 year dispatching or communications experience OTHER INFORMATION: • Knowledge of basic law enforcement and local government services. • Able to multi-task. Ability to monitor phone, multiple computer screens and radio communications simultaneously. • Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts and schedules including holidays, nights, and weekends in support of a 24-hour dispatch center.
