A woman, her five-monthold baby and dog are safe after surviving a hit-and-run accident while walking along a North Summit Road. At around 10:31 a.m. on Aug. 26 , the woman was walking with her baby and dog when a gold- colored sedan swerved toward her and hit her dog, less than two feet away. The woman, baby and dog, however, were uninjured The driver then fled the scene and was located in Morgan County, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested on preliminary charges of reckless endangerment, no valid license, unsafe lane change, leaving the scene of an accident and providing false information to a police officer. According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to numerous calls between Monday, Aug. 22, and Sunday, Aug. 28, including a MUSTANG i Restaurant i situation where someone left approximately 10,000 rubber bands and plastic silverware in the yard of a Basin home. Sunday, Aug. 28 Deputies responded to a large fight between more than 10 people at a home in the Basin. No citations were issued after the parties refused to press charges. A hiker found two dogs wearing backpacks while in the Henry’s Fork area. The dogs were taken to the Uintah County Animal Control. The dogs were described as a black lab and a red and brown lab. The dogs were wearing pink and orange collars with black and green backpacks. Deputies responded to a fight between two men at a South Summit home. No citations were issued. The case will be forwarded to the county attorney’s office. A Basin woman claimed that someone had left approximately 10,000 rubber bands and plastic silverware around her yard, in addition to unknown amounts of flour and milk. She also claimed someone placed shrink wrap on her son’s car. A North Summit man was found behind his home deceased. The death is not considered suspicious. Someone stole eight pairs of jeans from a business in the Kimball Junction area. Deputies responded to a North Summit property after dispatch received a report of a fight between two men. No citations were issued. Two Specialized mountain bikes were reportedly stolen out of the back of a truck parked along the Mirror Lake Highway (State Road 150). A man contacted dispatch after an argument with his girlfriend at his Basin home. The case will be screened by the county attorney’s office. The program was adopted to meet a goal of providing 600 affordable housing units by 2010. A man was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Deputies responded to a domestic violence incident between a man and a woman at a hotel near Kimball Junction. The woman had left prior to deputies arriving, but was later stopped while traveling along Interstate 80 and arrested on preliminary charges of assault. Deputies arrested a woman for multiple outstanding warrants after noticing her vehicle parked near State Road 32. A woman who left her purse at a business in the Kimball Junction area claimed her wallet was missing when it was returned. An investigation is ongoing. Deputies transported a man to Park City Medical Center from a business in the Kimball Junction area. Animal Control was given temporary custody of his dog. Someone hit a traffic sign that was attached to a cement barrier near Kimball Junction. Wednesday, Aug. 24 Employees at a business near Kimball Junction contacted dispatch to report an aggressive customer. He was arrested on preliminary charges of intoxication and disorderly conduct. A 65-year-old North Summit woman was found deceased in her home. Her death is not considered suspicious. Deputies stopped a vehicle traveling along State Road 224 and arrested the driver for three outstanding warrants. Someone caused more than $700 in damages to a sprinkler system at a North Summit property. Tuesday, Aug. 23 Several vehicles were burglarized while parked near a park in the Basin. An investigation is ongoing. A driver on a South Summit road ran through about 40 feet of fence trying to avoid a deer. The driver did not sustain any injuries. A woman’s purse was reported stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of an elementary school in the Basin. An investigation is ongoing. in opposition of the project was filed by Citizens for the Alignment of Growth and the Environment (CAGE) following the designation approval. A court order stipulated that the project meet specific requirements concerning issue such as bridges, outdoor lighting, road construction and access to Toll Canyon. A Basin woman contacted dispatch after noticing her front license plate missing. When deputies stopped a vehicle on U.S. 40 for expired registration, the driver got out of the car and swallowed the decal from the license plate. He was arrested for an outstanding warrant and on preliminary charges of tampering with evidence, driving without insurance, no registration card in the vehicle and improper registration. After deputies discovered a vehicle parked in the parking lot of a business near Kimball Junction, deputies arrested the driver for several outstanding warrants. Monday, Aug. 22 While moving out of his Basin home, a man noticed that his Stihl leaf blower was missing. Deputies arrested a man at a North Summit home on preliminary charges of unlawful possession of a financial card and two counts of unlawful use of a financial card. An investigation is ongoing. A North Summit woman contacted dispatch after she found a man’s credit card in her driveway. Deputies responded to a domestic violence report involving a man and a woman at an apartment complex near Kimball Junction. The man was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal mischief and domestic violence in the presence of a child. A mountain bike worth approximately $5,000 was stolen from a home in the Basin. A man lost his pistol after leaving it on his truck when he drove away from a parking lot at a trailhead in the Uintas. Kitchen said of the site. “But sometimes we get down into the trenches about the details and we forget to pop back out and see what this is really providing. Some of the major concerns in the past with viewshed, corridor protection and open space have been worked out.” Basin commissioners are scheduled to address the project and the affordable housing issue in a work session at 5 p.m. on Sept. 13, at the Sheldon Richins Building. A public hearing is tentatively scheduled on Sept. 27. Summit County Manager Tom Fisher will have final approval. Pending approval, the applicants are hoping to begin grading work in the fall with a project completion date of fall 2017.
