Show .k J " .WITCHES, ROBOTS MARCH TOGETHER for Fro lic and Halloween is is a good time to have a party. Most of the schools in Central Utah have planned Halloween festivities, and many towns are having special parties for children to keep them in the spirit of spook, but still keep them from getting-inttoo much mischief. Church groups, too, are sponsoring parties. is The origin of Halloween to to back some go thought by the time of the Druids who lived k England before the Roman conquest. It was a time when the dead were supposed to be able to rise , out of their graves, and witches had special magical powers to fly on broomsticks. Any kind of light was consid-'ere- d a protection against these evil spirits and that is why candles are part of Halloween. When the Christians came, they celebrated Nov. 1 as All Hallows. Day or All Saints Day. The pagans chose Oct. 31, or All Hallows Eve, to upset the plans of those who honored saints by destroying the work of the Christians. k:V"k; ' V ' S( T - ' 4 - y J fiV TV - v xfA If THREE SPOOKS ARE BETTER THAN TWO ON OCT. 31 A tramp who masquerades as Gary DeRose 364 days a year and his Halloween DeRose, do a camouflage job on partner, a clown by the name of Dennis thiir pet dog as all three prepare for an annual evening of in Springville.
