Show Good Morning Maxfield Original Utah performers Good Morning Maxfield will bring their eclectic indie, folk rock sound to the Velour Live Music Gallery on Friday night. Founded by namesake Stuart Maxfield, Good Morning Maxfield has delighted concert-goers at numerous Utah venues, including BYLPs Battle of the Bands on Jan. 26, where the six band members collected a third-plac- e award. He said he views this tour as a chance to reconnect with that side of his work as he prepares for the Grammys ceremony on Feb. 10, where "Spring Awakening" may procure yet another honor. It's been 10 years since Sheik's last entry into the prestigious award ceremony. In 1998, Sheik was nominated for his single "Barely Breathing," a surprise hit that played on the Billboard charts for an astounding 55 weeks. Sheik ' views its success! In 1999, Sheik joined with playwright and lyricist Steven Sater to try his hand at composing for musicals which, he said, has extended his abilities as a songwriter. "Whatever work you do in different mediums kind of opens you up, kind of broadens your palette and your thoughts about what makes an interesting song," Sheik said. "It's all just part of a larger process of trying to create t hings that are excit ing to people ... and hopefully things that open people's minds and open their hearts."
