Many of the sidewalks appear to have been the originals from the foundation of this town. Some of the sidewalks have pock marks from being used for too long. In sidewalks that have shifted or settled the corners and edges are now protruding out at dangerous angles. The city makes an effort to grind the edges down, but many edges are still imposing enough to make using the sidewalk dangerous. The city needs to replace many sidewalks instead of preserving them. I don't know if the city is planning to do this any time or if they have it in their budget, but as a resident of Provo I am concerned Many times my wife and I have hit an edge while pushing our baby stroller and have had it jolt to a stop because the wheels have gotten stuck. Even walking on them can be hazardous too. I am glad the trails are in good repair or I wouldn't have any place safe to run in the morning for exercise. Please let others know how I feel and maybe with enough concerned citizens this problem will be taken care of. Brandon Snyder MEDIA VOICES The CBS 'scoop' contacting Joe Lockhart days be- fore the piece aired. Burkett would later say he lied about his own source for the documents, something even a desk assistant could have discovered had the CBS team insisted on establishing a chain of custody. Instead, CBS rushed to air despite caveats from its own document experts that serious authenticity questions were unanswered. Unconscionably, Rather vouched for the documents' authenticity and attacked critics as "partisan." Even after acknowledging he could no longer defend the papers, he offered no retraction of the story, instead claiming that the "heart" of the report at tacking the president a sense was unchallenged. Robert Zelnick At the 1980 Republican in Detroit I came a few telephone digits of reporting that Ronald Reagan had offered the candidacy to Gerald Ford before deciding my information was too soft.
