Utah Page A 7 OiTUARiEi .Kamel Moses Kader , Gwen Williams Allan Kamel Moses Kader, loving hus- Gwen band, father, grandfather and brother passed away early morning January 4 after a valiant fight with cancer and diabetes. Cedar City and was one of the first graduates of the Branch Agriculture College there. She graduated in 1918 and the next year taught school in Leamington and the following year in Mapleton. In Mapleton, she met James Allan and they fell in love and were married. Two children were born to them Evan, born in 1922 and Collin born 11 years later. They lived most of their lives in Mapleton. Evan was killed in action on September 18, 1944, during WWII. He was a pilot on a Liberator bomber flying over Europe. Jim died February 11, 1975. Collin and his wife, Peggie, made their home close by in Mapleton and brought five grandchildren into the Scott lives of Jim and Gwen; (Catherine) Allan, Marian (David) Montague, Clark (Kristen) Allan, Leisel (Daryl) Reeser, and Melinda (Matt) Frandsen. She has 12 greatgrandchildren. She has been loved and respected by those who knew her. She was always appreciative of the things that were done for her and did not change in the hospital where nurses and doctors were always responded to with a "please" and "thank you." She had many friends who adopted her in her later years and appreciated her spirit and attitude toward life. She was always optimistic and positive. Her interest in life was her family. When the sacrifices of WWII took her eldest son and made her a Gold Star mother, life was suspended for a while, but she gradually recovered and when grandchildren and came then along, she found great joy with them. She loved having them sing or play the piano or other musical instruments for her. Her church service included several years as Primary organist, visiting teaching, Relief Society organist, and singing with the Singing He was active in the Farm Bureau and was honored as the Outstanding Farmer of the year in 1977 by the State Soil Conservation Service. Wherever he served he added his wisdom and judgment. Boyd was a good example of integrity and hard work to his posterity. He is survived by his wife Elma, children: Thiele (Ed) Roberts, Dr. Warren Pleasant Grove; (Marjene) Anderson, College Station, Texas; J. Kent (Janet) Anderson, Lindon; Jered Lee (Diane) Anderson, Woods Cross; RaChel (Finch) Bingham, American Fork; Len L. (Pauline) Anderson, Ferron; (son, Arden and daughter, Sherill were deceased as children); 36 grandchiland dren, 107 great-grea- t one grandchild. Additional survivors include his sisters:, Nina Pope, Springville; Zola Blackhurst, Highland; brother: Mark B. Anderson, Spanish Fork. She won several awards and was recognized as one of the leading salespeople in the country. She loved being a mother. Her favorite times were traveling, shop-pjnlunch, playing games, going to matinee movies with her family, and playing tennis with her friends. She had dedicated her life to serving the Lord, and she showed this through her service in many capacities of the church organizations, including a mission to the Eastern States Mission, and much service to the Primary. She loved chil- jpm, jiL grandchildren and around him. He worked hard, enjoyed life, the gospel and fishing. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints. He served in many positions during his life and especially enjoyed working in the Provo Temple He worked at Kennecott for 47 years and retired in 1968. His true enjoyment was farming. Upon his to retirement, he went from part-tim- e his children, n y farmer. He served in many civic organizations, moBt notably the Lions Club and senior citizens groups. (Dottie) Loader, Reno, Nevada; 33 grandchildren and 57 full-tim- dren, especially her children and grandchildren, Her family was her treasure. She is preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Ellen came from a pioneer heritage, having spent much of her early life in Shelton and Idaho Falls, Idaho, area where her parents homesteaded the land. She married Allen l,athen Butler on April 18, 1929, in Shelton, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple on August 24, 956. After they were married, she and Allen lived in Swan Valley, Idaho, where Allen farmed until moving to Blythe, California, in 1947. In Blythe, Allen began working as a finish carpenter on LDS meeting houses; this profession took them from Blythe to New York, Wisconsin, Arizona, and California. From 1971 she and Allen lived in Provo, Utah, where they resided in the Grandview 1st ward. In 1994, she moved to the Cove Point retirement complex where she resided until 1997. She has lived with her daughters Margean and Sherrel for the past two and a half years. Ellen had many skills. Her expert tatting, crocheting and sewing became treasured gifts for her posterity and for her friends. She loved to cook, often serving large groups whether it was 20 hay workers or 20 of her family. Throughout her life she memorized poetry and until her last two years of life, she often quoted them from memory. She also wrote beautiful proBe and poetry, much of which have touched her 1 family. During her life, Ellen was active in the community, including the PTA. She also served the church as officer and teacher in the various auxiliaries, and was a visiting teacher for seventy-fivyears. While living in Provo, she was an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple. Two of her daughters and three grandchildren have served missions. One great grandson is currently serving in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and another has been called to serve 'in full-tim- great-grandso- n Funeral services will be held Monday, January 10, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Provo Bonneville Fourth Ward Chapel, 1289 E. 300 Sduth, Provo. Prescott. age 73, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2000 in Provo. Utah. She was born Oct. 1, 1920. in Daniel, Utah, the daughter of James William and ina McDonald Orgill. She grew up in Heber Valley, graduating from Wasatch High School. She married Darrell "Joe" Prescott June 24, 1939, in Coalville, Utah. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Fern was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities of the various organizations. She loved to make handcrafts and made afghans for all of her grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to make people laugh. She could take a stern situation, apply a little humor, and lighten everyone's hearts. She enjoyed giving service to her family and friends and spent many hours assisting some of the older widows ki their homes in Heber City. Preceding her in death are her husband, Darrell Prescott, June 1, 1995; both parents; daughter, Darlene Boyd; grandson, Bruce Durrant; two brothers, Curtis and Bernell Orgill; and sister, Ora Higginbothtim. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Durrant and Lavern Prescott; four brothers, James Boyd (Betty), Merrill (Frieda, LaRay (Colleen), and Clive J. (Valyois) Orgill; three sisters, Wanda (Veral) Mair, Betty (William L.) Interment will follow in the Heber City Cemetery, Heber City, Utah. Daniel Otis Horton Daniel Otis Horton, 76 passed away Jan. 4, 2000, after a short illness in Culver City, Calif. Dan was born May 2, 1923, in Nephi, Utah, the first son of Otis and Mabel Pitt Horton. The family moved from Nephi to Santaquin in 1927, where he Ben Speakman Ben Speakman, age 99, was released from his mortal probation for a happy reunion with his wife and parents at midnight, December 28, 1999, in American Fork, Utah. Ben was born Iris Miller Kirk, beloved and devot ed wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away quietly on December 31. 1999, in Coronado, California. She was born March 28. lW-i-, m American Fork, Utan, to William Marshall and Susan Wild Miller, Iris was the fifth of 10 children. KorK She attended American schools and married her high school sweetheart, N. lx-- Kirk on April 1'J. 1920. They moved to Kmery County where they raised their two children, Helen lee and William Samuel "Bill." Upon Lee's retirement in 19i2. they returned to American Fork, where .she lived for 35 years. In 1997 she joined her granddaughters in California. Iris and lee were married for. til veins until his death in 1981. Iris was active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities. She was an incredible homemaker. known for Iht wonderful cooking, beautiful hoiiie; and . most importantly, her beautiful She was always a great example for everyone who knew her. . Laird, 74, Eureka, died 4, 2000, at Columbia Mountain View Hospital, Payson. He was born November 26, 1925, in Eureka, Utah, a son of Robert and Rosanell Walker Laird. He married Bonnie Wilde January Sparrow, December 29, 1959, in Ely, Nevada. Fred worked with Centennial Development and at the Dragon Mine, in Eureka, for many years; He was a member of the LDS Church; life member of the B.P.O.E. (Tintic) "Elks" Lodgg 711; and a member of the Utah State Fireman's Association for 45 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He worked for Utah Power and Light for 40 years, retiring as General Line Supervisor for the lines and service department for the Salt Lake Division. During his working years, he received many awards for his innovative ideas improving efficiency and safety. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of itter-daSaints. An outstanding characteristic was his positive attitude and optimistic outlook on all things. After the service he met and married Beverly Ostler. They had three children. They were later divorced, but he always kept a special place in his heart for the mother of his children. He met Geraldine E. Koehler, a widow, in 1991. They married on February 24, 1995, and he inherited six 'stepchildren and their families. Kamel brought a great love into Gerie's life and became "Grandpa Kamel" to her grandchildren. He tried so hard to live long enough to see "all" his grandchildren grow up. He was preceded in death by his parents, elder brother, Abed, two younger brothers, David and Joseph and a younger sister, Sadie Camla. He is survived by his wife Gerie, six step children and 14 step grandchildren; his first wife, Beverly, daughter, Kamerly (Kirt Morisson) of Like; Allan and Mary Jane ,,Born in Provo, Vtah, to Aishe and Moses Kader on November 12, 1933. He was thankful to be born in the USA and raised in Utah where he made many friends.
