"Ernie's a good boy," she drawled . . . But when she was told that emcee Ralph Edwards wanted her to fly to Hollywood Hol-lywood for the show, she balked . . . "Oh, no! I'm going up there once only once and this isn't the time" . . . Incidentally, the show on Ernie's life was one of the better bet-ter ones concerning show people. Pat Boone will star In his own TV series on the ABC-TV network net-work next fall . . . The show's sponsor, Chevrolet, Is giving Boone a TV build-up on its current shows, all of which are on competing networks net-works . . . This Is a boy who really real-ly doesn't need a build-up . . . His records speak for themselves . . . We figure Pat will fit Into the Crosby-Como groove Just neatly: a clean-living, American-type singer sing-er whose family comes first and who can really sing, be It ballad or swing, PLATTER CHATTER MERCURY: Nick Noble has oew waxing that should hit big ... His "A Fallen Star" Is a natural nat-ural for bis style and the backing, "They're Playing Our Song" Is real schmaltzy for those romantic moods . . . which even teenagers must have once in n while between frantlo disks . . . Freddie Bell belts out "You're Gonna Be Sorry" Sor-ry" and "Rockln Is My Business" on a hot biscuit that's tailor-made for the rock-happy crowd . . . Sil Austin comes up with a real gone number In "He's a Real Gone Guy" backed by happy "Dues Day." CAPITOL: Gordon Mac Rao, who has nothing to offer but an excellent voice, does "When You Kiss Me" backed by "Endless Love" . . . This boy really has it but unless you play guitar you're dead these days . . . Tommy Watts gets the beat In "Louise" and "Grasshopper Hop Jump" . , . Wow! |
