Show No Site in Sight TOPS Clubs Officer This week the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce went on record as favoring a "downtown" site for the Convene in S. L. civic auditorium. No one would have expected the Chamber to do otherwise. The vote, a show of hands, was reported as "two to One" This is surprising; more unanimity for a downtown site could be expected from the Chamber of Commerce, even though such a location is illogical, impractical, unpopular, and too costly. We don't know what is the best location for the civic auditorium. We do know that it is not downtown Salt Lake; we also know that it is not in Midvale, In selecting a site, certain important factors must be considered: the center of population, accessibility, parking, availability of site, cost. A location south of 21st South seems imperative. It must be near a freeway interchange. It must also have access to existing roads and sti'eets. The site must 'be adequate in size, well drained, available for negotiation, and priced fairly. Any ideas? Ten TOPS clubs will convene Saturday at the Prudential Federal Savings building where a queen and chapter queen for the state will be announced. The "Taking Off Pounds Sensibly" clubs will meet for a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. and will hear Dr. Eugene Bliss, professor of psychiatry at the University of Utah. The Sandy Be Slimmer members are expected to attend the convention. Mrs Thisbee Allen is president. you must coming lane.-Thu- s be concerned with having to watch both lanes. Lets not ruin this effect by having our cars parked every which way on our public street. For most of us, it is just a matter of breaking a habit that we have formed over the years. For othesr, it is just the fact that we are ignorant of the . law." The Police Department would appreciate the cooperation of Midvale residents in this parking problem. Warns-Par- lc on Right Side of Street "Most of us feel that after we have parked our cars, we are relieved of all dangers, hazards and financial responsibilities. This is not the case. Your police department has noticed that a great many Midvale citizens park their cars on the wrong side of the street. This constitutes improper parking, which is in violation of the State Traffic Code," Police Officer Harold (Duke) Sorensen stated Wednesday. "You think this is not serious? Better think again.
