Spokesmen said this record take of eggs- - at the Springville plant came to the peak production period for these fish and is the largest number ever taken in one day through the many years rainbow spawners have been reared at the hatchery. They represent about of the total 5 million eggs expect ed to come from the Springville hatchery spawners this year. An other one million eggs are taken each year from a smaller stock of rainbow spawners held at the kamas hatchery. These are the only two of the 12 state fish hatcheries where spawners are held for egg production. They form a dependable source of early rainbow eggs which are then processed and fish reared from them at the oth er of the 12 facilities. The department said that after the eggs are eyed and distributed to the other hatcheries they d make up about of the 13 million eyed rainbow eggs pro cessed by the state hatcheries in the current year. Balance of these eggs come from commercial hatcheries and other sources both within and outside the state.
