Priesthood meeting will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday and general session at 10 and 2 on Sunday. No general authorities have been assigned to visit. The MIA will have charge of the Sunday evening services beginning at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the nature of a speech and music festival with Gor don Green and Virginia Haun in charge of speech and Jack Smith and Margaret Miller in charge of music. Ross Butterfield and Iola Newman will be in charge of the Calif. meeting with Pres. Iris Nielson con Mrs Myrl Humes and family were ducting. Thanksgiving day guests at dinner at the home of Mr & Mrs Don RIVERTON TO DECORATE FOR FESTIVE SEASON Plans are underway for Yuletide lighting and decorating downtown streets, places of business, churches and all homes in the town. Every home is asked to participate if it is only a light in the window to help make the town a blaze of lights throughout the holiday season. Three awards will be given for the best decorated homes, judged on the Christmas theme, originality, and the spirit of the season. Dates for judging will be between Dec. 19 to 24. Thursday evening, Dec. 23, there will be a community and caroling around a huge Christmas tree on the corner south of the Beckstead Service station followed by a social at the First ward church. Clubs of the town, under direction of the town's central committee, will have charge of the decorating. get-togeth- er Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 1, the Columbine Flower club met at the home of Mrs Hazel Stcphenscn, where they watched demonstrations on Christmas decoration, given by Mrs Rette Scott of South Jordan. Luncheon was served by Mrs and Ella Swenson. & Sgt Mrs Howard Newman have returned to Riverton after having spent 42 months in the service at Minot, N.D. He received his discharge Nov. 21 at Minneapolis. He is the son of Mr & Mrs Ross Newman. Bernell Berrett, son of Mrs Nellie Butterfield, is home on two weeks' leave enroute from Ellington Field, Houston, Tex., to Westover Air Base, Springfield, Mass. He has been in the service 10 months. Clifton Green, son of Mr& Mrs Joseph Green and husband of the former Joyce Lloyd, arrived home for Thanksgiving from overseas. He has received his discharge from active duty. Mr & Mrs S. F. Stephcnscn attended funeral services of Mrs father, Jesse IL Giles, 85, in Ogden Tuesday, Nov. 23 and Ste-phense- Ste-phense- n Humes in Crescent. Mr & Mrs Edward Lloyd entertained at dinner Thursday for Mr & Mrs Fred Lloyd, Mr & Mrs Lloyd and daughter Kathy, and Mrs Cecelia Acerson of Green-rive- r Ut. The LaVelle Lloyds are now living in their new home in Murray. A baby girl was born to Mr & Mrs Ronald Cranfill, Greenriver, Ut., Thanksgiving day. Mrs Cranfill was formerly Delores Acerson. The family of Mrs Fred Lloyd met at her home Nov. 24, honoring her on her birthday. Refreshments were served to 31. There w ill be a show in the First ward church Friday evening Dec. 3 at 7:30 entitled "Bugles in the Afternoon." The Ladies Literary club will meet Dec. 9 at the home of Mrs Mary Crane. Mrs Geo Page will give a travelogue and show moving pictures taken on a recent trip to Florida, Cuba, and the Gulf States. Refreshments will be served. Mr & Mrs Weston Scegmiller and children 'returned to their home in Berkeley, Calif., after spending a few days visiting with Mrs parents, Mr & Mrs Bert Battison and other relatives and friends. Co. Mrs. Lester Blackham leads the local club. Frank has been a junior leader and was president twice. Work in his garden, now one acre in size, has taught him the advantage of raising good vegetables and how to recognize and control insect pests and weeds. He figures the value of vegetables used at home at $77. He has made 110 garden exhibits. His demonstrations, public speaking, radio talks and trips have brought him poise and self confidence. Townsend, 48, Union, who died Monday of a heart ailment in a Salt Lake hospital, were held Thursday in the Union Second ward chapel Mr Townsend was born Aug. 11, 1906, in Murray to Arthur and Harker Townsend. He was married to Eleanor Doty, June 30, 1926, in the Salt Lake temple. He was a member of the Union Lions club, FOE 1760, Murray, and of the Utah Fireman's Assn., and worked with the Boy Scouts. Mr Townsend is survived by his widow, two sons, William Dow, Salt Lake, and Byron Gregg, Union; 3 daughters, Sheryl D., Los Angeles, Calif.; Charlcne and Leigh Ann, Union; a sister, Mrs Ruby Hausk-nechCopperton; a brother, Murray, and two grandchilLo-ven- t, Dcl-ber- t, Mt. Health Achievement in the program by Barbara Wagstaff, 17, of American Fork, has brought her statewide recognition and an Club trip to the National Congress in Chicago as guest of the Kellogg Co., Battle Creek, Mich. Her mother is the leader of the club which Barbara serves as president and assistant leader. Following the health project for six years, Barbara first improved her own health habits and concentrated on community health. All club members had physical and dental examinations and studied posture, health and safety hazards.
