I have always mounbeen boastful of our Utah some believe I tains, but truthfully Rockies. the areas here superceed It is impossible to put into awords the beauty of looking into wide vallev filled with rolling hills; each covered with various shades of green, dotted plentifully with the red tile roofs of the fcj. WW) houses and barns providing an oc casional change from the green. A forms the high rugged mountain hackeround for a breathtaking view of tranquility. I must admit that it seems good to be in the mountain area once more. I have missed the beautiful sunsets over the west mountains at home, but have seen a few since coming to Drome. However, the most pleasant time has passed and the Tainy season has started. Once or twice every day it clouds up and rains hard for ten or fifteen Immediately after the sun shines, brightly again. The agriculture is differene in this area, also. Peaches and grapes are the main harvests, with a few apples and pears. My host family has been very happy for another pair of hands to help in the pick ing and preparing for market. It took a while before I could prepare a case of peaches without having changes made. They ar range them according to size in a special maner much the same as a different arrangement so that they fit very smuggly in the case and will not become bruised on the train to Paris where they are sold to a wholesaler. The work has not allowed time for making visits to the surrounding country. But the Sundays are filled with that sort of activity. However, this Sunday (Sept. 14) has been different. I have just returned from a "re union" for th "Cercle National des Jeunes," the organization for the rural fellows and girls of France, The purpose of this meeting was to interest the girls of the region in the "Cercle".
