Those Eagle Ranked Highly Under UAC Evaluation The Murray Eagle was branded "Superior" in two departments and "good, bordering upon superior" in a third by journalism students of Utah State College in their critiques on Utah weekly newspapers. The judgments, made public by John Stewart, head of the journalism division of the Logan institution, were in the phases of News and Feature Content, Makeup and Typography and Editorial Effort. In the first category, the critique labelled coverage and variety of news in the Eagle, ". . . very well handled, balanced right with good use of features." The style of writing was rated "high calibre, leads all strong, little, if any, personal opinion in stories, but an effort made to interpretative reporting as well as objectivity." Utah State journalists rated the Eagle down on timeliness of news matter, other than sports and features, and weighing all factors, commented: "Considering the foregoing, our rating for this category would be good, bor. dering upon superior." The Eagle was called a "very attractive newspaper with harn monious typefaces, headlines, good photo coverage and attractively-constructe- d and d Editorially, the paper was lauded its attention to makeup and content of editorial opinions.
