By Allan Carlson '' Publicity Chairman Gene Martin is the commander-elec- t of the Johnny W. Holden chapter No. 8, Disabled American Veterans, with headquarters in Murray City. Mr. Martin was elected at a DAV meeting Tuesday night. For Outdoor Living see the Samsonite Card Tables and Chairs featured on this show at V . 2 Safety Awards The 1954 Days of '47 queen Two safety awards were won by Hunt Foods Inc. of Utah, Murray cannery located just west of the business district, it was announced this week by D. J. (Bill) Isom, general manager. The awards were won in competition with other Hunt Foods plants throughout the country. The awards were to the plant and to Charles ElkinsE, foreman of the receiving and preparation department which operated for a year without an accident. Hunt Foods, winner of several national safety awards, is a leader in this safety factor among national organizations and conducts many safety contests within its organization. The Trcmonton plant of the Utah organization, also under Mr. Isom, received two awards this year and received honorable mention for safety improvements over the preceamg year. The Murray plant has its own safety committee, made up of employes. Winget New President Of Murray Teachers The Murray Education Assn., comprised of teachers of the Murray school district, has elected Lcrue W. Wringet as its new president. Mr. Winget is assistant principal at the Murray High school. He succeeds Arthur L. Bishop, teacher and track coach at the high school. Other officers elected by the MEA include: Wayne Lyons, Bonnyview school, vice president; Jean Bishop. Arlington school, secretary-treasureand Kenneth A. Farrcl. Y- I; Murray Pupils Rated In Achievement Test During the month of April, achievement tests were' given to the students of the Fourth and Sixth grades in all the elementary schools of Murray City school district.
