Lawrence saw action on the Pacific and it was on Luzon island in the Philippines where he was wounded a wound that crippled him for life. MURRAY Spectacular Fire Ruins Lundskog $1.50 .the Year Subscription Hollywood Bound Farm Buildings Murray City fire department had a very busy time Monday evening, April 27, A roaring fire was blazing uncontrolled on the property of G. A. Lundskog, 230 East 59th South street, and soon spread to the chicken coops of u I i rr it ' u - rM - Roy Gillen, a neighbor. The residents of the district did not notice the blaze until it had broken through the roof of the Lunciskog barn. They then had to go a distance of over two blocks to turn in the alarm. As the fire trucks rolled south on Slate street the blazing barn could be seen as a fiery skeleton. ine tire, tanned by a strong wind, was sending a veritable shower of hot sparks and blazing embers over several residences in the immediate vicinity. By dint of dangerous, hard work in the dense smoke and intense heat, the firemen were able to save all the buildings except those completely engulfed in flames on their arrival. The officers of the Murray fire department made an immediate call for assistance to the Salt Lake county station. Two trucks were sent to the blaze, where thev did a very commendable job. They stayed until the flames were brought under control. Damage to the Lundskog prop erty included a large barn completely burned, about three tons of hay ruined, two tons of wheat and a smaller quantity of corn and oats partially destroyed, half of one chicken coop totally destroyed and another coop badly scorched. A cow, a calf and one sheep lost their lives in the barn. Several items of farm machinery were lost and the roof of the Lundskog home was slightly damaged by spot fires. n On the Gillen property a lUnion coop, housing 200 baby chicks and 125 laying hens, was a total loss. No insurance . was carried by either property.
