The show, held at Kingsbury Hall, was participated in by hundreds of babies and were judged on health' and beauty. HCLLADAY Sponsor Cooking School A cooking school, sponsored by the advertisers in the Improvement Era, will be held Monday, September 29. in the Holladay ward house. The afternoon session, between 2 and 4 p.m., will feature a special bread baking demonstration by the chemist from the Globe Mills. The school is under the direction of Mrs. Barbara Badger Burnett, second counselor of Big Cottonwood Relief Society stake board, who will give a demonstration on various foods at the evening session, 7:30 to 9 p.m. The Holladay ward Relief Society kindergarten department will be present Monday afternoon to care for children of mothers who attend the cooking school "and will conduct a cake sale. Funds from this sale will be used to buy equipment to amuse and interest the children during Relief Society. A cordial invitation is extended to everyone to attend the school, whether in the district or not. Several valuable prizes are being offered. Entertained at Pioneer Party Over 300 women were in attendance Tuesday afternoon when the Big Cottonwood stake Relief Society held its pioneer party in Mt. Olympus ward. Wallace Bennett displayed pictures taken between Nauvoo and Salt Lake City, belonging to his father, John Bennett. Musical numbers included "The Old Refrain," played by Glen Pratt on the pipe organ and an instrumental trio by Viola Livingston, Dorothy Cutler and Irene Lloyd. A pioneer dancing number was presented by each ward. Fifty of the guests wore outstanding pioneer costumes. Apple turne molasses canovers, dy and punch were served. Out of the booths displayed by the various wards, Holladay won first prize with a pioneer living room, in which were a mantle-plac- e and grate, a "what-not,- " containing relics over one hundred years old and a Bible over 130 years old. Mt. Olympus displayed a pioneer bedroom; Cottonwood ward, a cottonwood tree, a covered wagon and pioneer camping equipment. In the Cottonwood booth was a German Bible over 200 years old. South Cottonwood ward displayed tapestry that had been in the Forbes family over 100 years. Winder ward's display consisted of some very old quilts and men's silk hats. Special guests were Irvin T. Nelson and Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Castlcton of the Relief Society General Board. Visits in Logan Mrs. C. R. Walter has been visiting friends in Logan. Club Sponsors Flower Show Many lovely fall blooms and artistic displays were featured Sunday in the Holladay flower show at the Irving school, sponsored by the Holladay Flower Garden club. Mrs, Dorothy Bngedahl won sweepstakes for her miniature artistic arrangement; Mrs. L. Sheets for large artistic arrangement, and Mrs. K. W. Merrill on an entry of double petunias. Smith, returned Wednesday to Saan Luis Obispo after a leave here. During his stay, he was entertained at the borne of Mr. and Mrs. Alma E. Mrs. Peery, 53, of 6201 South 6th West, died early Monday in a Salt Lake hopital of pneumonia complications following an operation. She was born in Wales, Utah, February 22, 1888, a daughter of Peter C. and Hannah W, Reese Anderson. She lived in Spring Lake, Utah, for 22 years before moving to Salt Lake valley in 1931. Active in L.D.S. church affairs, she served in the Spring Lake ward Primary association presidency, and in the Sunday school and Relief Society organizations. She also taught school for several years in Spring Lake. Surviving are her former husband, B. C. Peery; her father; a son, Rulon L. Peery, and two daughters, Mrs. J. II. Meldrum and Mrs. Lloyd Nate, all of Salt Lake City; a sister, Mrs. Sazie Thomas of Salt Lake City: and two brothers, Grant Anderson of Wales and W. R. Anderson of Los Angeles.
