Show 8 Hilltop Times April 11 ?002 Washers tournament set April 19 The Washers IX Tournament, sponsored by the Aircraft Directorate, is held April 19 at the Thornton Community Center, Bldg. 460. teams to The tournament has openings for 16 compete for the title of Washers LX champions. Check-i- n is at 6 p.m., and competition starts at 6:30 p.m. To compete, teams need a name, a captain, a $5 entry fee and a team poster to be displayed at the event. The $5 goes towards purchasing trophies and prizes. Entry deadline isTues-dafour-perso- n y. h Washers is a game of skill, where participants toss 2 metal washers 14 feet into holes on a board. The hole closest to the thrower is worth one point, the middle hole three points and the furthest is five points. Each round consists of four, games. The scores of the four games are totaled, and the top eight teams go to the playoffs. Trophies will be presented to the first and second place winners, and for best poster and lwest score. Practice boards will be set up at 4 p.m. for those wanting to test their skills.
