Show LIFETIMES Dec. 13, 19?) B7 Hilltop Times Holiday fire disasters preventable: Follow rules, use proper equipment by Gordon Sant Chief. Technical Services. Hill AFB Fire Dept Most fires that occur during the holiday season can be avoided by sound planning. By following a few simple rules, unsafe conditions can be eliminated so the holiday season can be both safe and happy. B Flammable decorations should not be used. They are strictly prohibited in base housing, but everyone should be conscious of unnecessary fire hazards created by flammable decorations. D Electrical devices and connections should be in good condition: - All electrical cords, fixtures and wiring should be thoroughly examined for defects, breaks or frayed insulation. - All electrical tree lighting sets and cords should be inspected to ensure they are in good condition. - If an extension cord is necessary, only one continuous length should be used and it should be the proper size and type; i.e., use the heavier industrial-gradcord outdoors. Never use lights on an aluminum tree. - Never overload a wall plug by using multiple-type e outlets. There are some precautions to be aware of with either natural or artificial Christmas trees. - Artificial trees should be flame retardant. - Natural trees cannot be made flame retardant and if they become dry, they are especially hazardous. Natural trees should be freshly cut and the cut end placed in a container filled with sand and water, with water being added as required throughout the holiday season. - The tree should be placed so that it does not interfere or block passageways. All gift wrappings should be disposed of promptly. lis For All Your Food and Gift Needs: Asian Gifts Jmm A PERFECT GIFT FOR THAT PERSON!!
