Robertson Ogden ALC Safety Office Whether you are going to a picnic, a fishing trip, camping, visiting family or just spending time around your home this Fourth of July, it is a time to be particularly cautious. Although July Fourth comes during the week this year, many of us will take leave in conjunction with it and try to cram a lot of activities into our time off. Any activity we participate in will present its own form of hazards. One thing we can expect is a substantial increase in traffic on the road over this holiday, so: Take your time getting to your destination. Don't plan to travel too far in the time you have. If you are planning a long trip, make sure that you get plenty of rest. Use rest stops. A good rule of thumb when traveling is to stop and stretch every one and a half to two hours. This is a particularly good idea if you are traveling with small children. Have your vehicle in top operating condition. Ensure all safety features are working correctly. Vehicle failure many miles from home can lead to frustration and stress which can affect your safety awareness and increase the chances for an accident. Water-relateactivities are very popular during this holiday. Remember that alcohol and water do not mix any better than do alcohol and concrete. Fireworks can be extremely dangerous, especially d n You and your fellow workers are the most imporwe have in our Hill AFB family. The majority of our people are very safety conscious. We have had a fine safety record with few serious mis tant asset haps during past July Fourth holidays. Let's keep it that way. Have a super holiday. Celebrate our nation's birthday, but make sure your celebration is a safe one. OOlrtiis: K ICBM director retires around children. They can injure you and your family or cause fires and property damage as well. You should use extreme caution when using any fireworks. In reality, the safest way to enjoy them is to sit back and view them at a professional display where the chances for a mishap are minimized. Sergeants complete training Hill adds to heirforce |
