Show (vn f s? rvrvarvi Art-Walki- Your Way Through ng Salt Lake's Art Festival-Happby Cami Nelson walking. On the art walk, that is. This Friday is June's walk, and a special one, as it will be reinforced by extra venues created for the Arts Festival. Here are just a few places and people you might see this Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Advertising the ever so catchy and metropolitan theme, "art in the heart of the city." the 2002 Utah Arts Festival promises its annual watering attention upon the artistically parched desert land that is Salt Lake City. J still remember my first month as a fresh resident of this blessed city. I found the good bookstores (or bookstore), cheap food joints, libraries and places to ' ride my bike. But where the hell were the art museums or an art 444 E. museum? Yeah, yeah, you say, another bitch session about how lame Salt Lake can be. But you haven't let me finish with the happy ending: I found no art museum, but I discovered gallery hopping and local talent. Forever an advocate of Salt Lake's monthly art tromp, I say stop damning Salt Lake and start Wells Fargo Center 299 "P is for Peglau: Michael Peglau Paints Utah." A slightly ridiculous title, but we can appreciate the slight humor and get passed the Sesame Street antics, can't we? The show runs through Aug. 31 Brian Kershisnik is here for only one more day after the art walk, so all you fans, here's your last chance. Jiff I 11 & f "V ......I..UII Artspace Artists 325 W. Advertising itself as the exhibition of the 26th annual Utah Arts Festival, this show promises to be the funkiest and the most fun. Fletcher Booth's angsty installations, Cordell Taylor's fun with the phallus, Ani Heinig's scrupulous paint and Therese Flowers' control of the creepy along with so much more promise to be the climax of your ait digs and ditches. David Ericson Fine Art 418 S. 200 West Phillips goes at the top of my list this time around because its new exhibit is big figuratively and quite literally. The gallery selected 12 local artists who paint large-scalwork. James Charles, Jeffery Hein, Lori Nelson Campbell, Denis Phillips, Bonnie Susec, Maureen O'Hara Ure, Bruce Robertson, Gregory Schulte, Shauna Cook Clinger, Tom Harvard, John Erickson, Lenka Konopasek, Connie Borup. This is quite the round up. The show opens June 21 and ends July 12.
