You know, like building a big lead, and then slowly letting the other team back in the game. The Aggies were the unfortunate victims this time. In typical fashion, the No. 9 Utes jumped out to the early lead and then steadily built a nine point cushion by halftime. That's where the margin hovered throughout much of the and a pair of second half. Then an Andre Miller Michael Doleac free throws extended the lead to 13 with seven minutes remaining. The Utes must have felt sorry for Utah State as they let the Aggies score the next five points. Those jerks. Don't they know it's rude to tease someone like that. It's like waving a piece of beef jerky in front of your dog and not sharing. Utah obviously was in the mood to share last night. On the ensuing play, Doleac hit a baseline jumper as the shot clock expired. On Utah's next possession, Jensen putback a missed shot and extended the lead to 6048. Suddenly there were sporadic signs of life in the Huntsman Center. People were actually using their mouths for something other than chatting with their neighbor. see "Utes" on page 6 Doleac dropped a career high 30 points on Utah State in the Utes'' win last night, thanks in large part to his large size. "Every game we plan to go inside a lot, and tonight with our size advantage we were expecting them to front us down low which they did a little bit," said Doleac. "We knew the mismatch was going to be there for me and Hanno Mottola and we dumped ihe ball in real well most of the night and stuck with our game plan." Although Mottola's foul trouble prevented him from using a reach advantage on. the Aggies' undersized forwards, Doleac racked up his 30 points by abusing Utah State's starting center, inside and out. "If the defense doubles down all the time than the guards can go crazy, but tonight their defense gave me some open looks." Doleac's career-bes- t scoring production was the most points the Aggies have given up all year, as was the 71 points that Utah scored. candiThe preseason date committed his Aggie slaughter on shooting, and a perfect from the line. "Michael played well tonight, he's a senior and he should do that when there's such a size disparity with an opponent." said Utah coach Rick Majerus. The size advantage of Doleac and Mottola has been a luxury afforded to Utah all season. However, the departure of Keith Van Horn and the size mismatches have not changed the philosophy or offensive focus as much as some might think. "We've been running exacdy the same plays as we did last year," said Mottola, "Our big guys move pretty well and we. always look to dump the ball down low and use the size as much as we can."
