Simpson's defense team blamed the verdict on false claims by the female trainees saying the sex was consenand undue influence by top Army commanders. sual They also suggested racial bias played a role, although race was barely mentioned during the drill sergeant in the "If, you're an Army, you're an endangered species," Spinner said. However, for the hospital's own birthday this year, the candles will number 75, and the hospital is hoping former patients will record and share their memories of those 75 years. "We are inviting patients from every era of the hospital's history to share their written reminiscences of experiences at the hospital," said Joe Horton, chief executive officer at Primary Children's. "We're hoping to hear from people who were patients in the 1920s, on through the decades until this year. We would like to read about the experiences and people they remember most, and the things they liked the best, as well as the experiences that were difficult." All the memories shared with the hospital will be assembled in binders and will become part of the hospital's permanent history. Some excerpts may also be quoted in materials prepared for events during the year. Over the years, thousands of children have been patients at the hospital as it has grown from a d convalescent hospital in 1922 to today's 232-bcregional tertiary care ASUU Fine Arts Programming Board 75th-anniversa- 35-be- d state-of-the-a- rt center. The hospital has very litde actually written by patients as part of its historical collection, and officials hope to receive many statements as part of the 75th anniversary observances, Horton said. Hospital historians would also enjoy hearing from others who were not patients but were involved in the history of Primary Children's as employees, nurses, physicians, parents of patients ind others who performed a service or have a special memory to late concerning the hospital. '"We hope people won't worry about spelling and writing style. We would rather receive the paragraph than miss the beautifully planned manuscript that was never written and sent," Horton said. "We're looking forward to some very interesting and poignant reading." Contributed stories are welcome any time, but hospital officials are hoping to receive most material as soon as possible. nepple are invited to write a paragraph or many pages-a- ny send their thoughts to Primary Igth will be wclcome-a- nd iSdren's Medical Center, Attn: Public Relations Department, North Medical Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84113-1100- . hand-writte- f n (I Risa Steinberg "Celebration of Dance" May 20 7:30 pm Marriott Center for Dance $4.00students $7.00non-student- s ' |
