Show missieacrafcii-1- 1 SLAC's 'Wild Guys' explores male sensitivity, friendship and revealing lost, inner soul going along to drink beer and maybe talk his boss, Andy, into giving him a promotion. However, Andy has different ideas. He wants to organize the weekend to give everyone an opportunity to just talk. BY SANDER SHARP Chronicle Theatre Critic listen up, men! Would you like to spend a weekend lost in the woods trying to get to know yourself and the primal man that's been locked inside for many years? While this kind of activity may not appeal to everyone, exploring men's sensitivity makes great material for Salt Lake Acting Company's latest production The ' Wild Guys. - ..- self-awarene-ss Picture four total strangers, each as different as night and day, stuck in the woods a beer drinking man's man, an attorney and two new age guys whose favorite activities are group hugs and visualization. Add a talking crystal, a few poems and no food, and you have the ingredients for a choice . telephone, Stewart tells his wife he is have more opportunity to get in touch with the natural man. Thanks to Andy, father figthe group's ure, each man is kept from killing each other and in the end, even wind up somewhat friends. The Wild Guys, features four men lost in the wilderness trying to discover their inner masculine selves. on many levels, with deeper messages about the reality of male sensitivity. As the play's director, Teresa Sanderson, said, "'Male sensitivity isn't necessarily an oxymoron." " : Indeed, The Wild Guys does make attitude great fun of the touchy-feel-y of the men's movement, but it also sends the message that men are human and fundamentally not the insensitive creatures some folks believe them to be. SLAC's The Wild Guys features actors Scott Holman (Stewart), Geoff Hansen (Randall), Todd Scurr (Robin) and Richard Hamilton (Andy). All played good characters, but Scurr was the definite favorite. Scurr helped bring Robin out as the stereotypical character of any new age rolesall of the men's movement, peace on earth, save the environment, spiritualistic qualities ever invented. By far. Robin was one of the most obnoxious '90s guys I had ever met The Wild Guys was written by Canadian playwrights Andrew Wriggitt and Rebecca Shaw. The play has been selling out all over British and Columbia, Ontario, Newfoundland since its premiere in May of 1993.
