Show Wednesday, June 2, 1999 - Page 8 Lehi Free Press New Utah! the Park will begin this Sunday Arts in Arts in the Park kicks off this Sunday, June 6 at Wines Park. The program featuring the Lehi Silver Band directed by Kaye Collins will begin at 7 p.m. While some of the band members are well known to the Lehi community such as Ed the Lehi Collins, City Administrator, none has a more colorful musical past as Charlie Grabert of Lehi. Whenever a piece is played, Ed jokes that Grabert has played it somewhere. Known for his skill and talent with the flute and piccolo, Grabert played in Carnegie Hall in 1990, on the Ted Mack show for PBS in 1963, and for the Air Force Band in 1948. He has played all over the continent and throughout Europe. Belonging to a group called the Sister Cities Band in Stafford, Connecticut, Grabert under Leopold played and Stokowski composer LeeRoy Anderson. He has played in the New Sousa Band where the conductor for the band looked just like John Phillip Sousa. Grabert is an active member of the community and has been a Cub Scout Leader in the Boy Scout program for 40 years. His talent with the bassoon can be heard this Sunday along with the rest of the other band members. The band concert will close with two grand finale numbers including our newly organized adult community choir.
