A true southern gentleman, Leon loved people, young a$d old. He didn't judge others, feeling that people were basically good and doing the best they could with the circumstances they were given. He had an incredibly forgiving spirit. Leon married Sherilyn Morrow in 1987. They were later divorced. On Valentine's Day, 1998, he married Dawna Evensen. Leon's greatest love next to his wife and children was the outdoors. Though he hadn't been well enough in recent years to work at the thing he enjoyed most, he had an instinctive gift for knowing everything about trees, flowers, and any green living thing. Many homes and businesses in the valley have been graced with his gift for landscape design. He once planted a beautiful array of flowers near a city bus stop just so "people having to ride the bus will have something beautiful to look at while they wait". We imagine he's now tending God's garden. He served honorably in the Air Force including the last year of the Vietnam war. He was a member of the LDS church.
