Reflecting on the Cyprus game, Lehi Coach Brett Bergholm said, "Cally Gillman did a good job as a center midfielder. She was in the right place all the time. My forwards Amber Pasket and Ashley Revill got a lot of good passes." Lehi's offense quickly proved to be too much for the Pirates. A minute into the game the Pioneers quickly telegraphed the ball to Amy Price, who then shot from an angle into the goal net, opening scoring. The shot marked a long period of Lehi staying mostly on the Pirate end of the field. The Pioneers fired 25 times at the Cyprus goal net during the course of the afternoon. Revill scored the next goal on an unassisted shot. Midway through the first half, Alison Munroe and Sara Olsen led two deep Pirate drives into Pioneer territory. Goalie Lynnsey As ay stopped both assaults with saves. Late in the period, Kellie Dahle kicked in Lehi's third goal from inside the penalty 9-- 0. . 3-- ' 0 Cyprus checked it, then took control of the momentum. When Asay picked off a Jennifer Burnside shot, the Pioneers regained the tempo and turned the game into a slaughter. The barrage of six goals opened with Revill scoring the first second-hal- f goal. On assists from Katie Pilham, Alisha Kolowich and Kassy Fowler each booted in two goals to put the final score at "West killed Skyline two days before we played them," Bergholm said. "West's the number one 4A team in the state. To lose to West by just 0 says a lot for us. "West has the top player in the state, Ashley Drier. She's been getting scholarship offers from all over the country. She scored the first goal against us in the first half. "In the last minute, we came down and made a run for the goal. We crossed the ball, and the kocpi-Alice England got it. "The score was just 0 when the second half started. We had some confusion in our defense. r Lynnsey became distracted, and Drier scored the second goal. After it, Cally Gillman marked up on her and shut her down." Ruth scored the goal. Asay recorded 20 saves during the West game, and Lehi had nine shots on goal. "We did a brilliant defense. The girls did everything I asked them to do," Bergholm said. "I asked them to play a physical game. I asked them to play a mental game." He said the Pioneers displayed what they were capable of doing against strong opponents. As shooting begins at 8 a.m., Youth may now take ducks, geese, coots and mergansers, staying within general season limits. Snipe and swans may not be taken. Tom Aldrich, Waterfowl Coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources, reported, "The purpose of the day is to increase the recruitment of ethical and safe youths into waterfowl hunting." He added, "Since adults can't hunt that day, it gives adults more time to teach youths good hunting skills and safety."
