Scott Root, listed at Lehi Library Information and Education that Coordinator, reports numerous improvements have taken place above the railroad trestle to make this popular water even more productive. Charlie Thompson, Regional Fisheries Manager, revealed that log structures were installed along the famous stretch "to improve fish habitat by providing large woody debris and pockets of water in which young trout can feed, rest and avoid the stronger current." Large submerged boulders anchor the logs in the river and keep them in place during higher water flows. Thompson recently conducted a survey of the river bottom and installed the structures last week. They tried to install the structures quickly to avoid disturbing the trout spawning period and limit displacing river anglers. Biologists do not anticipate any flood control problems, resulting from the newly established structures.
