They have some good athletes, but just haven't been able to jell since their first two contests The Pioneers on the other hand have a 2 mark with losses to 1 ranked 3A North Sanpete in region y rival Spanish and Fork, the 2 ranked 4A team. When North Sanpete crushed the Pioneers three weeks ago, it served as a wake up call and the LHS eleven played inspired ball against Spanish Fork, losing by to the Dons. only six, Last week, the Purple and White gridders traveled to Heber City for their biggest rivalry in Region 10 and came out victorious losses to strong football programs, Lehi High School's Pioneer gridders are set to host the cellar dwellers of Region 10 northern division Friday at 7 p.m. in their Homecoming contest. Park City's Miners hope to get into the win column at Pioneer Field, but their chances seem pretty slim after the Pioneers downed arch rival Wasatch last week. Coach Chad Wilson expects Park City to come out with either a Run and Shoot offense or the Straight Power I. They have used both systems this season and started out last season in a similar format only to shift to the Power I at mid season. With Union up by two, Lehi apparently decided the match was over. Suddenly passes were no 2-- 0. beats Wasatch Later in the quarter, with Wasatc! threatening to score, Matt Sunderland batted the ball in the air and intercepted it. With a first and goal on the Pioneer one foot line, Trent Colledge went in on a quick count on a quarterback sneak and scored. The PAT was missed on a high snap. Then Wasatch ran a reverse pass on their own 35 yard line, had a wide open receiver and scored. The PAT was no good. With 40 seconds left in the half, Wasatch scored again and the conversion was successful. Score at halftime was 3 for the longer there. Hitting errors increased until Lehi had five hitting errors in a row. Mentally, the Pioneers were gone and they did not recover. They got thumped 15-giving the match to Union. It was a very disappointing match for the Pioneers. However, lessons are hopefully being learned so that the Pioneers do not have a repeat of Tuesday's game. The Pioneers are now 1 in region. This week they see Uintah on Tuesday at Uintah and Park City at Lehi on Thursday. "There were a couple of breakdowns, but for the most part the defense played stellar; they took care of their responsibilities and we shut them down," he concluded. Recently the Pioneers have had a problem holding to the ball, but the contest against the Wasps showed the LHS players with sticky fingers that resulted in zero turnovers.
