Show Lehi 4-- H Free Press - Wednesday, August 28, 1996 - Page 5 group to take projects to state fair 1 Four young Lehi girls reaped WEIGHT the rewards of their efforts when they brought home ribbons and premium money from their projects submitted to the Utah County Fair. Under the direction of Becky Gray, the Lehi Little Ladies Kiersten Gray, Kylee Green, Amy Loveridge and Tanya Thomas won blue and red ribbons for projects in various categories. Kathy Loveridge assisted Gray with the 4-- H group. The group's course of study for 1996 included reading, cooking, sewing and crafts. Additional accomplishments included storytelling at the Lehi Gala Centennial program and being named second place spirit winners at the summer camp. The girls, ages are all students at Lehi Elementary. They are looking forward to participating in the program in order to eventually earn scholarship money. Kiersten Gray, daughter of Bert and Becky Gray, won first place for sewing, reading, tole painting, arts, crafts, cooking and writing an original story. Her jumper, tole painting project, and the reading project on letter writing will be on display at the Utah State Fair in September. She also won second place for craft and needlecraft projects. She enjoys swimming, playing soccer, playing the piano, writing and reading. She was a winner in the Reflections contest and the school district art show and represented the school in a storytelling competition. Ben Tuttle Ben Tuttle tells story at Timp festival Ben Tuttle, son of David and Billie Tuttle of Lehi, was a partici- pant in the recent Timpanogos Storytelling Festival in Orem. One of 13 students from the Alpine School District to participate in the event, Ben told "The Man and The Chicken." The annual festival is a combination of professional and amateur storytellers, as well as musicians and other entertainers. Ben is a sixth grade student at Sego Lily Elementary. She likes reading and spelling as well as her kittens. She was named as a winner in the Lehi Elementary art fair. Tanya Thomas, daughter of Larry and Deralee Thomas, won first place in sewing, craft and tole painting divisions, and second place in art, cooking, craft and writing categories. Her jumper and Easter Egg projects will be on display at the state fair next month. She enjoys singing, babysitting, swimming, dancing, painting and art. She also won a school writing contest. The program is open to boys and girls ages 9 to 18. Students can earn scholarships and prize money through various contests. There is also a summer camp program each year.
