Originally weak on their offense and in getting their shots in, the Pioneers have struggled throughout the season. Their last game with the Delta Rabbits showed a new unity and strength. With a stronger offense and with more confidence in shooting, they are a different team. Continuing their new trend of storming out at the first quarter, .they led the Park City team by 15 points before the first eight minutes finished ticking, 22-- Lehi. During the first half they opened up and got most of their shots from the inside successfully gaining a 26 point lead, The third quarter was better for the Lady Miners who were able to keep pace with Lehi's 10 point gain minus one. Wrong. Their first half shooting was, well, near awful. But the mark of a good team is that they always find a way to beat you. What way was that ? Defense! The Pioneers held Park City to two points for the first six and ahalfminutes and only gave up seven points for the first quarter. Lance Magnusson made the fir st two baskets and it looked like Lehi was going for the walk through the park routine. Then things got a little colder and then a little more so as Lehi missed seven of the next eight shots. However, the defense grabbed the rebounds and came up with six steals. That kept Lehi in the first quarter. ' play. y.. Jana Fullmer is coming into her own as a strong and talented athlete. Team Cami Cooper scored second to Melisa Beck with 13 points. A junior, "Coop" is another athlete who has matured in her skills over the season. "She had a little trouble adapting to varsity," noted Christiansen, "but she has got a good work ethic and is another good all round player with great shooting ability." Beck again had command of the court, outstealing and outshooting the other players. Lehi finished with 76 points, 33 rebounds, 19 steals and 5 blocked shots (most of those from Luke Magnusson). Brock Jones, who always gives the Pioneers a lift had this comment: "We came out a little slow, buttheninthesecondhalf we kicked things up a bit.
