'"J " 4 Dear citizen: Once again, the federal government is trying to force its wasteful programs upon Utah County. As your county commissioners, it is our responsibility to protect our area and our rights from damaging federal mandates. To inform you about the issues, we've prepared the following summary: tilt . Chantelle Squires Lehi youth wins contest Chantelle Squires, daughter Merlin andVirginiaSquires of Lehi, won the grand prize in Utah Power's 1994 Energy and Environment 1) Her science project, "Power Lines' Effect on Plants," included many hoursoffield research studying plant samples near major power lines. She alsomade inquiries to farmers and ranchers in Idaho, Washington, Florida, Arizona and Utah to gather information about their observations of the effects. We held a press conference on Wednesday morning to announce our opposition and our alternatives to these mandates. Additionally, we are pursuing all legislative and legal means available to protect our local rights of government. We would like to hear from you.
